The Hailun piano story began
in the 80's when the current owner Mr. Chen was designing and
manufacturing piano parts for high-end piano manufacturers from around
the world, including action parts from his machine shop and wet sand
cast iron frames from his own foundry. He partnered with an
impressive team of industry veterans, who each left their mark on
what would soon become the products of the Hailun piano company.
Hailun first came to the U.S. in 2007 when they introduced their pianos
at NAMM -- the National Association of Music Merchants industry
trade show in Anaheim, CA. We recall these pianos sounded
unusually beautiful but in our opinion, the verdict was still out on
the brand itself. Within a couple short years, the inescapable
court of public opinion -- i.e. "the internet " -- rendered its
verdict: Hailun is the brand to buy. Teachers, performers,
consumers, technicians, respected contributors to popular forums and
even trade magazines all embraced the Hailun piano in a
way that has never been seen in Chinese made pianos. Online
reviews consistently report better musicality when compared to other
pianos in (or even above) the price range of Hailun pianos, including
entry level grand models from Kawai and Yamaha.
If Hailun grand pianos weren't already receiving enough accolades for
their maple rims and other features that are normally reserved for much
more expensive pianos, they have now broken into uncharted territory
with the factory-installed hydraulic LIDS that are now standard (and
exclusive) on all of their grand pianos. This is not the hydraulic
key coverthat many manufacturers have adopted -- this is a
hydraulic lid, where if the lid prop accidentally slips out,
the heavy lid won't act as a guillotine! It slowly closes, as
demonstrated here.
The Hailun piano company is
completely family owned, which sets it apart from all the other Chinese
piano companies which are either investor-based, government-owned or
government-subsidized . This ownership includes all the
factories, (one of which is 400,000 sq. ft.) and the 20 million dollars
of state-of-the-art C&C design equipment from Japan and Germany
that will be part of the forthcoming factory. The company
philosophy is immersed in western entrepreneurial spirit -- another
distinction between Hailun and other Chinese piano companies.
This makes Hailun enjoyable for us to SELL and for you to OWN.
What exactly does that mean? Well, they answer their phones,
honor warranty work (as rare as it is), deliver as promised, accept
dealer input -- the basic things that any successful business needs to
excel, yet surprisingly doesn't always occur.
What it means for you is that there is an overwhelming confidence level
with the Hailun brand, ensuring your happiness throughout the buying
process and decades beyond.
Hailun knows that their name
is relatively unknown in the U.S. and has gone to great lengths to win
your confidence by providing the industry's best warranty: a 15
year, transferable parts AND labor warranty. Additionally, action
parts, iron frame and metal case hardware are warrantied for the
LIFETIME of the original purchaser. But wait there's
more... :) Hailun also has the Hailun Dream Assurance
program whereby if you are not completely happy with the purchase of a
Hailun piano, they will exchange it for a different piano. No
other manufacturer gets behind their product to this extent in
writing. The irony with this extensive warranty is that if
consumers knew how many better known brand names are really just stenciled
pianos, Hailun wouldn't have to go to such lengths to win consumer
confidence. Many popular American brand names today are really
just logos stamped onto the key covers of Chinese pianos from companies
that are a fraction the size of Hailun!
