ABOUT THIS GEORGE VOSE PIANO:

While many "furniture style" pianos easily date themselves with adornments that characterize an era (like blond oak cabinets, or music desks with cane / wire insets), this piano is as timeless today as it was when it was made. It has a BEAUTIFUL set of ivory keys and the pedals were cast with a unique pattern in the top, as if to be skid resistant - unncessary, but cute.  It has elegant and understated design elements that have proven to stand the test of time.  Not many pianos old or new have this.  On top of all of this it's a beautiful, well made piano with great tone and touch.  There is no particle board in this piano.

ABOUT GEORGE VOSE PIANOS:
The George Vose name you see on the key cover is really just a stencil or "house brand", which continues to be a popular trend in piano manufacturing to this day.  While most stencil brands are usually a lower quality piano manufacturer, hiding under a "house brand" name (like the Schafer & Sons brand was to the Colton piano stores on the west coast or like the Cristofori piano is to the Schmitt / Jordan Kitt's chain of piano stores), here's an instance where the Lyon & Healy piano stores of Chicago had a very fine piano made by the Chickering Piano Company, but sold it under the obscure name George Vose.  Although we're not 100% sure it's a Chickering (the history of such relationships is often not documented), our 59 years of experience tells us we're pretty certain it is -- or at least it's a piano of comparable level to a Chickering.  Note to anyone who has found this page because they're trying to find the history of a different George Vose piano:  The above description is only for the piano WE currently possess.  There is no certainty that any other George Vose piano would have this same pedigree.  Private label brands often have different manufacturers producing the brand name, sometimes concurrently.
