THE TOP-OF-THE-LINE ANCHO SYSTEM FROM QRS
In 2006, QRS unveiled their cutting-edge Ancho player system, which boasts a full LCD display and built-in sound card to accompany the onboard CD and Compact Flash drives. Unlike the QRS Petine, (let alone QRS' more basic CD2000 or 2000C models), the Ancho's LCD display is a must-have for anyone who wishes to store a lot of music on the Ancho's Compact Flash drive, and who wouldn't? That's the point of having a removable storage medium that's capable of storing literally thousands of songs. The Ancho's 20-character LCD display allows you to create folders for your music and SEE folder names...along with the song titles IN those folders. It goes well beyond convenient!

The 3-digit LED displays on the QRS Petine requires you to remember the three digit number for each song on your Compact Flash card. In other words, you'll need to remember that, say, Happy Birthday is song #427 on your card...and that's assuming you haven't recently added a song onto your card that begins the letter A-H, in which case it would now be song #428. If you go over 999 songs, you'll need different cards because the displays on the Petine is only three digits. Other unique Ancho features include a high quality, built-in General MIDI sound card that allows for the playback of MIDI files orchestrated using the General MIDI file format. In other words, your piano will play the piano portion of the recording, while the amplified speaker system under your piano (or in your walls) will play back the orchestrated accompaniment. This is particularly useful (required actually) in order to take advantage of all of the popular interactive method books that teachers widely use. Instead of playing "Somewhere Over the Rainbow" to the sound of a metronome, the piano student can enjoy a fully orchestrated background accompaniment. This is certainly much more fun for the student and much more pleasant on the ears than the "tick tock" of a metronome. Other player piano manufacturers charge close to $2000 for such a sound card. QRS includes it at no charge with their Ancho system, making the Ancho a tremendous value in the marketplace.
There is also the Qsync option that allows the Ancho to be used in tandem with popular concert DVD's-- meaning your piano will literally play along with DVD concerts by your favorite artists like Norah Jones' Live in Paris or Billy Joel's Live at Yankees Stadium DVD's.
