This 5'8" parlor grand was rebuilt and refinished approximately ten years ago and has beautiful ribbon mahogany, reminiscent of pre-Depression era Steinways and Mason & Hamlins. It's a perfect piano for someone who is looking for a good, vintage grand with character but doesn't want to spend the money on a Steinway. ABOUT
LESTER PIANOS: |
Lester was Philadelphia's big piano company from 1890 to 1960. In that time, over 300,000 Lesters found their way out of the factory. The biggest black eye that Lester (along with MANY other piano manufacturers) endured was the use of WWII-era plastic parts in some models during the 40's and 50's that became brittle and broke. This undermined what was often an otherwise reasonably well made, affordable piano. In fact, many Lesters had very interesting cabinet designs that are still highly desirable today. |
