ABOUT SAMICK PIANOS:
Samick is one of two Korean piano manufacturers who enjoyed enormous global growth in the 80’s and 90’s as a lesser expensive alternative to Yamaha and Kawai pianos. At one time, Samick was the largest producer of pianos…and guitars – but they never became a household name in the United States, because a large percentage of their musical instruments were sold under various names that were more familiar to Americans. In the area of pianos, they made (and in some instances still make) pianos under familiar names like Baldwin Howard, Chickering, Sohmer, Wurlitzer, Kohler & Campbell…and Schafer & Sons. The popularity of Korean-made Samick receded when low-priced Chinese pianos became popular in the first few years of the new millennium. It is typically agreed upon that if all other things are equal, a Korean made piano is better than its contemporary made in China. The price difference between the two would all but demand it!
